windshield wiper arm removal?
I wanted to take mine off to paint the skinny part of the wiper arms since the paint has come off and there is surface rust on them.
I took off the 12mm nut and washer but the arm wont budge, is there a little clip in there or is it just seized up?
I will spray some deep creep in there and check back here..
thanks

Im scared Im going to break somthing, the drivers side won't budge at all and the passenger side will move up 1/4" and then stop, like its binding on somthing...
just wanted to make sure that it will come off..
I bought some liquid wrench, see if that helps it.

Tap on the top of the stud with the handle end of a screwdriver. While you pull straight up on the part that wraps around the stud. Be sure you arent pulling at an angle. PBbaster or somesuch for a day first is a great idea too. If the cap has been on there it should'nt be too rusty.

Just wanted to make sure you pulled the wiper arm away from the window. There is a lot of temtion from the spring and it will bind on the stud. Mine wouldn't buge till I tilted the wiper arm up, then it just fell off with the nut removed. I know its' a little simple but just wanted to make sure that wasn't your problem

Spray on some PB Blaster.
Let soak for 30min or so
Flip up the arm so that the wiper points OUT.
Use a brass bar and bang on the stud and on the side of the arm.
Not gently taps but not enough to bust it off.
Pull on the arm "out".
The puller is usually a "battery terminal puller". I gots one but never tried it onthe arm as the above worked fine.

WD 40 will work too
like folks said flip the arm up first then tug straight out from the stud wiggling as you go. Mine were all siezed on at first too but about 10/15mins. of effort got them loose... while they are off take the opportunity to lube the linkage as well some water got into my driver's side stud and was enough to freeze the whole mechanism... I used LPS4 to lube the thing... took a few applications but it works now...

I just painted mine last week. I used Deep Creep, wrapped a rag around the arm by the stud, and pulled with a pair of channel locks. Came right off. Like someone else said make sure you pull the blade away from the window.

Bump on this, I'd love to paint my wiper arms too. Any luck with this Jay?
EDIT: Just went out and unbolted them. Requiered some wiggling then they came right off no problem(with the arms folded up).

I ended up painting them while they where on the truck, but that its starting to come off...
I never bothered to try again, but il give it another shot. I have a small gear puller I can use.
