Windshield replace

Does anyone know if a windshield off of a 87 Toyota pickup will fit on a 91 Toyota pickup?

It wont. But I had the windshield replaced on my 01 Runner and the windshield shop said it was the same part number as the 91. Go figure. I did a comparison and it looked like it would. That will give you a wider selection in years if correct.

For what it is worth windshields are one thing I won`t mess with anymore.

My last attempt to put a used windshield in cost me $2000.00 plus and I still didn`t get the windshield in.

On the other hand I have some more scars .

I do wish you luck in your attempt

Thanks Terry, the measurement at the bottom of the glass seems to be the same. I was not planning on taking the glass out of my 87 , it just happens the available parts truck is a 87.

Thanks Wyoming, sounds like you had a bad experience there, so the 2000$ was paid for stitches you needed from the glass breaking? Maybe you could expound on that.

Pretty much I got off lucky

The windshield coming out just shattered when it did it put me off balance .

I managed to just nick my elbow well I hit a small vein and it would not quit bleeding

Driving to the hospital was fun

Shop towels and Gorilla tape wrapped around my elbow.

I wonder how some Doctors get through School

Had to get it X-rayed even though glass will not show up.

My luck I get the ER Nurse ready to retire . Just once a Hot cute one that knows her Nursing!!

Rates charged by the Hour it adds up fast .

Next time I will go to the VET instead She is cuter!!

I was surprised that you suggested something as dense as glass would not show up on x-ray, so I had to go look.

Did they have to do anything special to get the bleeding to stop?

Thanks for sharing that Wyoming, I am still in the research stage, I will be sure to tape the window well before pulling it and wear protective clothing.

The cheapest way to remove a windshield is with an OLFA utility knife. Use glass cleaner as lube for the blade. Keep light pressure on the glass and the blade should slide through no problem. Getting a corner started is the hardest part. I've removed plenty of glass this way. The glass will flex a bit but remember the knife has to do all the work. Installing glass nicely is an art form. Good luck.

For the cost of a new windshield it is a no brainer let them remove and dispose of the old one.

Install the new one

2 cups of coffee and doughnuts ready to go home.

A nice new windshield no pits .

** To get the bleeding stopped two little stitches of course the kit with the needle and thread was billed at like $250.00

thanks wyoming, I would probably just have them install it to if I were to go that route.
