Will this diff fit my 4Runner?

8" Toyota Diff with 5.29 gears and EZ Locker.

I have a stock 88 4Runner with 3.0. I eventually want to run 33" tires and I ran across this diff for sale. Will I need to make any more modifications to the drive train if this works out and I get it? Thanks.

It has 200 miles on it and the guy wants $350. Is that a fair price?

fit - yeah

Might have issues if your rear axle is modded for the electric locker

V6 diff is stronger thant he 4cly diff.
Me thinks the one with 5.29's is a 4cly diff - but who knows.

Price is also dependent on the shape of the gears inside....

also depends on whether it's a stick or auto, 4.88's would be fine for a stick, you may want 5.29's for the auto...

As already mention by tc, none of the condition s mentioned in this thread matter at all, it will fit.

And, if it only has 350 miles on it and was set up by a shop, it's worth $350 too.

However, with a 5 speed, 33's and 5.29's, you're probably not going to like it. That's too much gear for 33's...

Sorta off topic but related... Regarding right gears, I live in Denver right at the foot of the mountains. My daily drive includes some decent sized hills. I am running a set of 4.88's with 27 inch tall tires at the moment and honestly I have to say given the terrain here it's great... I am about to buy new tires and had been thinking about running 33x10.5's with the 4.88's but now I am thinking that 31's will be a better choice. I just wanted to throw this out for others to consider when swapping gears and tires...

Read the link that "tc" posted and do your homework...if you do so you will see that what you are getting (if that is indeed what you are getting) is a deal and a half.

Another assumption is that you are talking about your rear diff and if that is the case then it will fit, it will not fit in the front, and it says in your sig that you have a 5 speed, 5.29s will be a bit much for 33s but if you have plans to go to at least 35s soon the price couldn't be better.

Gears and tire sizes has been covered extensively on Yotatech in numerous threads, just do a simple search and do some reading for the variables to consider.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I think I am going to pass since I have learned that I only need to go with 4.88s to run 33" tires. If anyone is looking for a 5.29 rear diff with an ez locker I have included the link. It is located near Atlanta, GA.
