You did get his number right? Why dont YOU call HIM. After all, it was his fault, so why would he call you.

Sorry that happened to your nice 4runner. Bad drivers are the worst! I also hate those dual turn lanes. Most people I see turn too soon and end up in the oncoming turn lane

We have the same issue down here. Dual turn lanes and the people on the inside don't know, or don't care to know, that they can't just change lanes in the middle of the intersection. I can't count the amount of times I've almost been hit in that same situation.....

Hope you get it all taken care of with the least amount of hassle.

edit: At least give the guy a call, he might have lost your number or is scared to contact you. Being nice at first may go a long way to getting this resolved.

accident won't go on your record. Tell them you tried contacting police when the accident first happened and they refused and the guy took off. How long ago it happened is irrelevant. Whichever way you look at it, it's a hit and run without him giving insurance info.

Call the guy and ask him for his insurance info, if he refuses to give it, inform him you are calling the police and reporting it as a hit and run. It might change his mind.

I had a guy try to take off on me when he backed out of a parking stall into the front of my truck. I put my hands up in the air like WTF, when he continued to drive off, I sat in my truck laying on the horn right on his back bumper. He finally got out. I chewed him out and in the process the back called the cops. No damage was done to either car, but I had not even got out of my truck to look at it, nor did he before he tried to leave.

Gonna add to this again. When we first bought our BWM the tow truck driver never sinched the back end of the car down on his flatbed. A car pulled out in front of him and the whole car slid into the back of his cab, taking out his headache rack and dented his cab pretty good. Very little damage done to the car. A few broken bulbs, a broken fog light mount, a couple plastic clips and a small crack in the fiberglass of the bumper. I called the police, filed a report, but never had it fixed. I regret it now. That was over a year ago. Can't really do anything about it now.

this is why I carry a giant 50-250ft lb torque wrench in my cab, discourages people with slippery tendencies... you hit my rig, you pay... one way or the other....

I would have been screaming my head off if the police refused to show up, next step, H&R dude...

I've been rear-ended twice by stupid people on their phones, both times I didn't get so much as a scratch but I still raped them for every paper they had in their glovebox... especially with my $500 deductable on comprehensive insurance...

that sucks man, best of luck to ya getting her fixed and paid for; I agree with Junker, I always try to play nice guy until you start to screw me and then I get nasty....

If no injuries reported, then police are not required to come out. In most major cities they won't respond, usually they consider auto accidents the lowest priority call.

yeah, but a hit and run is a felony. and it no cops show up, then the driver has no proof of an accident ever occurring. Especially if no lic plate was gotten and/or the other driver gives false info.

And without a police report, most ins. companies will not cover the damage.

Actually talked to a cop about this.. if u say the person hit/run u but they really gave you all their info, then they'll actually go to the persons house and ask them. Not sure on the ins. Part, but I know a cop will go ask.
And if it turns out that the person gave the info, and you said they hit/run you, then idk what happens.

Thats not cool. I had my Fourrunner rear ended a few years ago buy a full size Ford pickup. I was lucky, though. the guy came out and was very cooperative. I ended up driving it the rest of the way to work, then when I took it to a collision shop, his insurance wanted to total it, I said no way. Found a whole new tailgate, bumper, rear lights and it was like it was never hit..lol

ok, but problem is the driver didn't give all the info, that is why he wants to go to the cop's and file a hit and run report.

I would to at least make sure the guy gave you accurate info anyway, however incomplete as it was. It's not like you can get his real info yourself with just a tag number.

when these situations happen, i keep the brass hammer under the seat...
to beat the sense out of the guy that caused the whole thing...

they next time things like this happen get the license plat number, make model and year of vehicel, look at his license and get the number of it.
look at his insurance card get the name of insurance and his policy number.. and go ahead and call his insuranse company.. and tell them that this mo fo just ran into you..
you all need to call the police for a report..

and you need to have a sorwn affidavid..
and any people that you have as withness also works out too..

you never ever admit guilt even though you may had cause the entire thing in the first place... don't ever agree to any money either... dont ever do this...

the last and final thing to do is to call the lawyer that you see in the yellow pages, you dont pay unless you win... those are the guys that will hammer the nuts of the lazy police officer, the lazy insurance company. and the other driver that caused the whole dam thing,

read up on your rules of engagement and deadly force before you show and hostile act or intent with that brass hammer..

oh ya, blow up the other guys insurance company with about 10-15 calls a hour, about what happend.
you will find out reall easy how this works..

for better results just do not feed your wife or gf friend for a few hours so they are extremely cranky and then put them on the phone to call the other guys insurance company...

Any particular reason for the hammer being brass?
