who makes the best head gasket? 22r
was wondering what peoples thoughts are on Head gasket makes for the 22r motor? good luck and bad luck? seems like it's been a once a year thing for me, well accept last year, but think i parked it with a bad one before i ripped it apart for body and paint work. Have tried the fram ones and the Rock gasket ones. havn't tried any others.
any thoughts would be nice, or if anyone remembers thread that this was already discussed in?
Thanks a bunch!

i have heard nothing about horror stories about the felpro until the the posts above... however, no one ever had a bad thing to say about the OEM Toyota factory HG... that is what i used on my truck over a year ago.... and it still runs beautifully.....

LOL! at my self, I said Fram, meant a Fel-Pro. "WHAT WAS I THINKING" LOL!
I was thinking about going with an OEM gasket myself.
are there any other aftermarket ones besides Fel-pro and Rock?
I heard someone mention a place called CORTECO

I aint no mekanik but I have been into my motor a few times and Ill be galdarned if half of the gaskets in my "ROCK" gasket set had to be re drilled and were WAY off factory bolt placements and I know my engine was a "typical".Wasnt pleased with ROCK I then put my engine together and Ill be galdarned if I didnt get an exhaust leak in my coolant on a 120 mile trip to Zion in 120 degree weather.Ive also had the "ROCK" water pump snap completely off on 4 grand rev ata stoplight.Closer inspection revealed that the cheap chinese steel in the ROCK spindle was far inferior to the OE grade Aisins they used to run.I still use Aisin as they got my trucks the first 260 without breaking.Aisin rocks,ROCK SUCKS.tough name for crappy parts.

It always amazes me hoe threads on this forum are dug up from 3 years ago and they are not even in the right section. Was this forum originally something else or is it just that badly organized and threads not moved by admins when they are in the wrong section?

I was more concerned with the subject matter than the "age" of the thread.I bought my last ROCK gasket set this year 2009 and like I said ,that will be my LAST rock gasket set,who gives a rats ass how old the post is if the material is valid which it was,my truck is 29 years old and very "valid" and alive
