Whistleing noise after clutch kit...

I have an 89 4x4 pickup that I just put a clutch kit in... The release bearing was making a horrible screeching noise so I decided to pull it and put a clutch kit in it from orielys auto parts...

This was my first clutch kit install and didnt go very smoothly getting the tranny back in... I had to wrestle it by myself but other then getting it lined back up i did everything by the book. The kit came with a pilot bearing, release bearing, and of course the clutch. I dropped a rear seal in it while it was apart.

The truck runs great now and the clutch is perfect but i have noticed a new noise. a whistling noise but it is very faint and only noticeable at higher speeds... What are the chances that the pilot bearing is bad. It's not the throwout bearing because it's all the time while im moving... it sounds nothing like the bad throwout bearing screeching of before...

What else could it be? input shaft bearing?

I'm not really wanting to drop the tranny again because it was a royal PIA... I need to change the pan gasket and front seal because i have an oil leak... Should I just pull the motor and take care of it all at once or just let it ride and ignore the faint whistling noise that is almost unnoticeable...

Thanks in advanced for any help... Taking it to a shop isn't an option I'm a poor country boy and they wanted nearly $800 for a clutch kit install.

Here's my truck (just testing the image upload for future reference)...

Yeah. Sometimes it's a couple days before folks pick up on threads. Seems like Monday everybody's remembering their fun weekend and gets on YT to relive it.
Pilot bearing would be silent with clutch engaged. (Pedal up)
Input bearing would be quiet with clutch disengaged. (Pedal down)
Throw out bearing would be quiet with clutch engaged.
Beyond that, I can't think of anything right off hand.

thanks... it seems to do it at random... sometimes while im driving sometimes just sitting there idling. I have no clue where it's coming from but definitely the drive line some where.

I tried to download the FSM for my truck in your signature but the link is broke for it...

Crap. I'll have to fix that, then. Thanks for the heads up there. If it does it idling, clutch out, I'd guess an input bearing. I've heard of a few clutch kits from parts stores coming with either the wrong throw out bearing, or the throw out bearing getting lunched in a couple miles for unknown reasons. Sure it's not underhood somewhere?

That's weird. The FSM link worked for me, but I'm running mobile app at the moment. I'll see about the computator later.

I was also reading your thread about your truck missing/cutting out at around 2500ish rpm in 3rd/4th gear mine does the exact same thing at random and only at that RPM. I'll have to re read that thread because i didnt understand most of it lol

Yeah. That was fun to chase down. Forgot to reconnect my EGR vacuum line until today. Meh.
And that's weird. Dunno if I can fix the link in there. I'm not quite that smart.

The noise seems to be going away and happens less frequently, almost not at all. I'm not sure if it's just those cheap bearings "breaking in" haha.

I would not rule out the throw-out bearing. I just put a new timken throw-out bearing in my 79 f-150 (I know lets just pretend it's a toyota) Makes noise all of the time, got real pi**ed one night and threw an old one from my parts bin in and it's perfect now. Hopefully it continues to go away for you.
