Wheel/tire combo and bj spacers

i'm want to install my bj spacers this weekend, but i don't know what i'm gonna do if the tire rubs on the upper control arm. i'd like to know some info before i'm up the creek without a paddle, and just a grinder. i have the factory steel 15x6 i think wheels with 31.10.50's. i searched and searched and couldn't find what i was looking for, only for bigger wheels or bigger tire combos. thanks.

I just did this to my 92 last week. I'm still running the 31x10.50s on 15x7 Tacoma wheels. my clearance with the upper a arm is super close. I just ordered 1" wheel spacers, I don't want my wheels to stick out too far. And I'll be running 33x10.50s real soon.

when i did mine the clearence was so close that I had to use 1.25 wheel spacers to stop the wheel from rubbing..while it worked im not a big fan of wheel spacers..after couple weeks I decided to buy wheels that had right amount of offset that allowed me not to use the wheel spacers..most quality pairs of wheel spacers run about 80.00 and remember if you run wheel spacers in the front you will need to run them in the back unless you want front wheels to stick out 1.25 more than the rear...not a good thing in my opinion..so 2 sets you are up to 160.00 or so depending on tax shipping ect...you can find wheels as low as 68.00 each so for 4 you are talking about 275.00 dollars or so and if you take the price of the wheels and minus the cost of the wheel spacers you see your options...just a thought..wish i would have know or thought about this prior as it would have saved me some money on the wheel spacers which I ended up selling on e-bay for half what I paid for them...just a thought maybe to save you a few dollars in the long run....G

well i have been wanting some soft 8 wheels anyways, so what amount of backspacing should i get on the new wheels to allow ample clearance but not look goofy sticking too far out?

mine doesnt stick out at all, with the proper backspaceing and proper offset they will look almost like stock.. they really shouldnt stick out at all...wheel spacers will make them stick out but proper wheels shouldnt at all that's the reason for the offset...I got Pro Comp wheels and Im pretty sure it has 3" of offset..i will try and look it up and let you know but im almost positive it was 3"....G

3.75 backspacing and you should be good unless you go to a bigger rim

Very possibly, but a little trimming on the outer lip of uca should cure it

i took a look under the truck today, and it looks like if i do install them, the upper control arm is gonna be very close. But i don't think it will be touching. I think with a little grinding on the end of the control arm will ensure plenty of clearance. The wheels will have to wait till i can save up my scrap metal funds for wheels. Thanks for the replies, especially on wheel backspacing size

Just to add something here. You'll need to check for rubbing when the front end is at full droop. When I installed some 16/8's on my 89 the tires (33/12.50/16) cleared just fine at ride height. However the tires rubbed the upper control arm at full droop. I ended up installing some 1.5" spacers on all four to keep a consistent track width and stop the rubbing issue. Of course then I had to "adjust" the inner fenders on the front with a BFH.... and install fender flares.....

just put the spacer's on and the tires did rub a little at full drop on the upper control arm. had to grind the control arms just a little, and now all is good. i'll align it at work tomorrow, then post up some pics (rainy day here today). with my zuk mod, it looks perfect!!
