Wheel Offset

Hi All,
My 92 Toyota 4X4 pickup has 15X7 7-spoke steel wheels fitted. They may have come off a early T-100. Does anyone know what the offset of this wheel?
My tires are 225/75/R15 and they extend out to the edge of the fender. I'm looking at a set of new alloys 15X7 with a minus 6mm offset but I don't want the
tires to extend outside the body. Alternatively, if anyone has installed 15X7 wheels with a minus 6mm offset with the same tire size can you tell me if the
outside edge of the tire is inboard of the fender or if it extends outside the fender. Thanks.

Posting my own reply.

The backspacing depth of my 15X7" 7-spoke steel rim is 4 1/2". If I calculated correctly for a 7" wide tire width that would equate to 13-14mm
positive offset. If I go with a new 7" alloy wheel with a negative 6mm offset, that will push my wheel out 1/4' more than it is now. Stock
offset is zero so -6mm is not outrageous. If any of you offset math wizards care to check my numbers I'd appreciate it and view it as a
"sanity check". I'm new to this offset business and dont wish to make a mistake,'

I can't speak to the accuracy of your math, but most, if not all of my factory Toyota wheels are marked with their offset.

even your '87? i ask, because the 4-spoke alloys on my '87 and '88 do not have offset markings. the later '90-'95 version has "offset 8" on the wheel, though.

Yes the early 4 spoke SR5 type wheels are marked 15-7JJ-15

I understand this to mean:::::::: 15 inch - 7 inches wide - 15 mm offset
