What's that part under the bumper called?

I'm new here. I just picked up an 86 22R-TE 4x4 that I'm quite happy about. Despite a severely rusted out box, the rest of the truck is in really good condition.

Pictured here is my truck. There was a metal skirt that was bolted just underneath the chrome bumper, which I took off due to it being completely rusted out. What is the name for this piece? Is bumper skirt appropriate? It sat just above the skid plate, and just below the bumper.

some call it 'valance', some 'fascia', and some 'below the bumper trim or sheetmetal'
people with lift kits call it a waste.

Massive rust on box. Near future plans involve either finding a new box, or welding in some new sheet metal.

Front cab is in very good condition though.

Same with the interior

222k km on the truck. I have receipts in the glove box indicating the motor was completely rebuilt about 20k km ago.

Aisin lockers, and 28" tires. I can't tell, is this stock ture size and ride height? I don't think it is.

And you can make one out of anything. Mine is trimmed at both ends under the bumper for more clearance. I think it makes the truck look much less ghetto.

the tire size appears stock. you can double check that with placard on the driver's side door jamb.

and it looks like you're gonna need either a new bed, or do a flatbed

I love how your license plate reflects the box's condition. "POS"

Awesome looking truck dude.

yeah, I bought this truck knowing that I would have to replace the bed. I'm currently waiting for one to pop up for sale within 300miles of me. I just couldn't pass up a turbo truck that was in otherwise great condition at a low price.

I'm going to take out the bed liner, and check the condition of the metal underneath that. If the bed itself is in good condition (which I highly doubt), I may weld in some new sheet metal on the sides, or get some fiberglass panels.

I don't want to do a flatbed. It's not my style.

Somehow I think this truck is going to make me glad I just bought a welder

I would be amazed if all that rust was limited to just the bed.

I can't imagine you'll find the inside of the bed to be in good shape given the condition of the outer panels. But, if you're a lucky somofagun, I can pm you a link to another forum where a fellow welded in new metal to 1st 4rnr. He did a fanstastic job on an otherwise lost cause.

be careful with that bedliner, it's probably the only thing holding the bed together.
