Check out UncleBob's 1st Gen. Frickin awesome!!
Wow, thanks! But my bucket 'aint got nothin on most of these rigs. I need to blow the dust off of this thing. It hasn't left my shop in over a month. Been too busy fishing to go wheeling. In fact, it may be for sale soon, as I'm selling my little boat today and am saving up $ for a bigger offshore boat.

It's a shame to let it sit around unappreciated...

I have met this guy, he usually is at Mini-Takeover at Paragon with us. That truck is no longer a show truck! He lowered it, replaced the bumpers, sprayed some paint and bedliner on it, and he wheels it on some 36" (maybe larger) SX's.

I will see if I can dig up a pic.

there's an actual question buried in this ramble:

my roommate was saying she dug the way the L trim pieces on the slider window were painted to match the body like on Greg_Canada's ride.

I was thinking that when i tint the windows, leaving the L black would look better with the vertical panel (w/ 4runner logo), because I was considering painting the front door frame black as well to finish it off, so the "trapezoid of windows" would all be black.

Well, looking through this beauty pageant line up, i can now see a lot of trucks already have the top half of the door painted black, like RC000E's and Sknkwrx.

Does anyone know the logic behind body colored vs. black upper door frame? I don't notice a pattern linking it to vent/non-vent window, but then again, there's lots of customizing and part swapping with 20 year old trucks. Did some come black from factory, or were these custom painted?

p.s. such awesome trucks in here. i'm so happy to have found this site. I think i see one other 4runner a month locally, and its always ratty. Not that ratty is bad, hey its still runnin'; but the trucks in here really are an inspiration to me. I can't wait 'til the piggy bank fills up again so i can do some more work.

cyclone: excellent in the '89 blue. that's gotta be my favorite factory color
sknkwrks: holy crap your truck looks like it drove right out of the pages of a 20 year old accessories catalog. i love it! super outfitted.

The door frames on my 84 SR5 were originally painted black, but on my friend's old 86 Dlx they were left body color.

I saw a truck when I was searching around. The members name was Toyzilla, but it doesn't appear that he's posted since the early this year. His 4runner looks sweet in his avatar.

This thread really turned out...there's alot of damn nice older 4runners floatin around. I hope this thread keeps on going and guys who only log in every once in a while catch it.
