oly crap! what a bunch of nice toys. every pic looks like it should be in a calendar or something. (except the tom cruise)

thanx rc000 for starting this thread. some serious inspiration for me here. i've only had mine a couple months, still ironing out the mechanicals, i can't wait to get some more work into the eye candy factor. i'll see if i can figure out how to post a pic. i'm no award winner but its a looker to me.

one thing i'm planning to do soon is measure out and make a plan for a softtop that will cover the entire back, with velcro detachable side curtains too. i'll be sure to post schematics and a parts list once i'm done. something we can do for low $ or have a boat cover maker whip up custom.

anyone in the atlanta area that can help me do some mods? there's some things my bad back won't let me do. (& i pay cash. e-me a private so as not to hijack)

keep the pics coming! 1st gen rox!

Yeah...I almost sold my truck last week. The guy was buying a ticket from Detroit to come buy mine, so we agreed on next day and I hung up. I then jumped in the truck and drove home from where I was. While I was driving I was thinking....I can't sell it....I can't do it. So I called the guy back and said...nope, I can't sell it.

So, now I am trying to get some motivation/inspiration to keep going with my truck. I have the other thread for opinions. I lifted my truck and all, but I didn't paint it....and paint is next for sure. I just wanted to see some inspirational first gen runners.

4xJedi.....I am likin your stuff. I definitely have to go SAS next year. What springs do you use for the front and rear to obtain the height your at?

SAS for mine next year...only after paint this year though...lol.

ur 1st gen is sweet man, love the colour looks real 70's. If u ever decide to sell ur rig and buy another suv ul regret the removable hardtop for sure. That was one of the things that kept me from selling mine when i had a close encounter a while back.

LOL....I can't take the color, nor the visor anymore. I like the clean subtle look, and like darker colors personally. I have a feeling I am going with a dark blue/black mirrors, grill, flares, rims look.

I went with the 4" front springs which with the hanger and shackles gave me 5" of lift in the front. I used the 5" rears to help level with the hardtop on. It's bigger than I thought it would be but the springs will relax in time.

My '88, 22RE, 5sp., 320K

Kinda proud of my Daily Driver, '88 w/320,000 miles. I've owned it for 15 years. It's the cleanest one I've ever seen. All stock, except for the 15x7s and 31x10.5s I went to several years ago. Oh yeah, changed auto hubs to warn manuals.

holy crap this makes me want to restore my piece. [violins on]Too bad it would just rust through again. Why did they have to make the rear fenders so crappy?[violins off]

You could go with fiberglass. I hear it rusts much slower.

Check out the red 4runner in the paint booth on page 1 of this thread.
Didn't he design a tub and fenders made from fiberglass?

Seeing the above stock 4Runner makes me want to start a company that builds new 1st Gens with updated drive trains, kind of like the company out in California that is making new FJ40's.
