I would diagnose the problem before I started replacing parts- its always cheaper that way.

Bump... maybe someone has figured this one out already.

I just can't figure out how a 150bhp motor can jerk a 4000lbs truck forward in 4th or 5th gear.

matt, its almost like the motor completely shuts off... like it just stalls after a certain time period... mine usually did it once at about 15 minutes running, then again about an hour later... wanna see whatt it feels like, then get going about 15-20 miles per hour and drop it into 5th with it about 3 grand... your truck will buck like crazy... his problem is like that only it bucks once...

lets see,

$4 per plug = $24
plug wires - i have forgotten
02 sensor = $50
air filter = depending on what you get, $15-60
fuel filter = $20
cap and rotor ~ $20
Oil change = $15-50

someone chime in if im missing something...

and, matt, better to just do the tuneup and hope that the problem goes away because if it does, then hes got a healthy motor and no more problems... make sense?

To have an instaneous stop/start like that sounds like an electrical issue, like you have a short somewhere. I'd start by deciding when the plug wires (particularly the ignitor to distributor wire) were replaced & inspect the distributor REALLY WELL.
