What is this wire for?

hello all.
This is my first real post. I have been browsing for some time and found most of my answers with the search function.

First the picture.

What is this wire I'm holding for?
I found it when I was looking for the knock sensor. It was just hanging there just above the starter left of the oil filter. Same area as the knock sensor. The wire goes up into a harness, but I can't tell what it's for. Truck runs fine other than check engine light 52 because there is no knock sensor plugged in. I'm fixing this issue.

Back ground. Truck is a 1988 SR5 4x4 extra cab 5 speed manual 22re. The guy before me put a new motor in well different haha. The stock one was shot he said so he rebuilt his brothers 1985 22RE from a 2wd. Yes I know this does not have a knock sensor, but I will tap the threads in the hole for the sensor I have on the way.

Thank you

That is the ground wire for your injectors. It gets mounted behind the rear nut on your intake manifold.

Red face

Any bolt or nut on the manifold will work.

Since your truck runs I can only guess it is extra because without that wire grounded it will not run.

Sounds good I put it behind the one it reached. But like you said must be extra.

Thank you

Pretty sure it shares the bolt that goes through the black support beam into the plenum.
