what size tires?

i have a 95 pickup. everything is bone stock. i dotn know much about trucks, because im just a young punk who spends his time on his dirtibkes haha. but anyways. right now i have some small street tires on right now, but i think they make the truck look unproportional. i dont have the sizes right now, cause my brother is driving it now. so what size should i get? i dont want too big, i want it to still do good on the road, and i dont want it to rub and i dont want it to sacrifice my MPG too much. im just going to be driving it on firetrails right now, so its not too heavy offroading.
here is a picture.

Look on your door jamb and it should have a code on it. Something like F052. Use the axle decoder here.

Once you have that, we can help you better.

Looks a lot like my wife's truck (the '91 in my sig). About the biggest you'll get in there without problems is a 235/75
You're also on the stock wheels, so I wouldn't go much bigger than that.

You actually may find that changing out the stock rims for something with a tad more offset will work better than new tires.

Here's a pic of my wife's '91 (butterflies? ick) with the tires I mentioned and cheep 15" keystone wheels:

Keep in mind though that I've got a 2.5" lift on the truck too so you won't have as much room around the wheel wells, BUT I put the lift on after I put the tires on and they didn't rub.

aww... my 4runner was trying to sneak into the pic... how cute....

Gimme some credit: the whole Fabtech kit, NEVER INSTALLED- still in the boxes even with new t-bars, new shocks and original invoice, was bought off of craigslist for 400 buckaroonies. Yeah, yeah, yeah... the spring-over-axle and spindles are getting done once my next contract comes in.

Thanks. The guy I bought it from bought the kit for his girlfriend's truck (it was supposed to be a surprise for her) and then she sold the truck two days before the kit came in from UPS. He sat on it for a few months then decided to cut his losses... to my gain. I saw the post come up on CL and replied to him within 5 minutes of his post. Met him 35 minutes later and had it.

stock size is 195/75-14 which is about a 25.5'' tire. when my 2wd was bone stock the biggest tire i could have fit was a 27'' with no rubbing. after my lift i am running 235/75-15 (29") and i have no problems with any rubbing but i did loose some mileage with them. if you were to go with 215/75-15 (27'') and a small torsion bar crank to level the truck out you shouldnt see hardly any MPG loss and you should have any problems running on fire roads. however i would suggest you upgrade to 15'' wheels because finding tires for 14'' wheels is damn hard and when you do they get kinds of pricy.

my truck the way it sits now

Stock size is 195/75/14 or 205/70/14.

The 205's balance out the look a little better. Also handles the corners better too.

Remember, these trucks were built before the ridiculous "ghetto" and "ricer" styles were around with overly large, low profile tires and gap-less tire to fender clearances.

Since your tires look like they have plenty of tread left on them, just drive it the way it's and was designed.

X2! Unless there's a problem with the truck as it sits, I wouldn't throw away perfectly good tires just because to some it's unproportional. If it needs tires - then get the size you want. Today, it looks just fine to me.

Keep your money in your pocket.
