No, the water temp sensor is in the front of the intake manifold, a little bit in front of the thermostat housing.

I still havent found a plug, and personally, I don't think this vehicle has that knock sensor. I think the motor was swapped out before I bought it with a 4wd block, possibly. Although, it is weird that my 88 2WD does have it. I gave up, and said forget it, unless somebody can PROMISE me FOR SURE that this motor has a knock sensor.

The only thing left for me to check are the pins on the ECU, to see if there is a pin for a knock sensor. If there is no pin, then the ECU isn't set up for the knock sensor. I went to look up the pins in the factory manual online, and for this 2WD, there is no pin number or location on any of the connectors.

I don't see that it would matter between 2wd and 4wd

the running of the motor has nothing to do with weather or not there's a front diff under the motor, for the most part...

2wd or 4wd, it's still capable of knocking from pre-ignition

Ok then, why does Toyota's factory manual say "Knock Sensor (4WD Only)"?? Still don't know if mine has it or not. I need to check the ECU to see if it has the knock sensor pin, but I can't even find the ECU diagram of pins...doh

that's pretty strange, but good searching and finding if only everyone was so determined

I just find it odd that it actually does matter between 2wd and 4wd but whatever, lol
