Talking about that completely messed up boot. Located on the tranny, passenger side, near the front.

 

That is your clutch fork boot you want to get that replaced asap or you will be doing the clutch very soon from debris getting in there and tearing up your clutch and flywheel.

 

I have an appt. to get it done tomorrow afternoon.

What is inside of that fluid wise? The reason I found it was because a ton of something was leaking on the ground today at work, looked under, and saw the hole. I thought it was brake fluid? But my reservoir is full.

the only thing i think could leak is your slave cylinder. i dont think anything is up inside that boot..just open space

its just a boot to cover your fork, clutch, throw-out bearing. There is nothing in there...well air

Looks like the boot came out. All you need to do is push it back in (unless its cut) and you'll be good to go!

many times an oil leak will make the boot expand so it is no longer serviceable

 

it's just pushed out, use your finger and push it back inside and you're good to go.

 

and fyi ... that is a lot of oil on your transmission .......... you're leaking from somewhere....

 

The boot prolly just needs popped back in as stated above.

The fluid that operates the slave cylinder is brake fluid. And could very well be leaking. With all the wetness under there its hard to tell just what is leaking. One thing u can check if the slave cylinder resivoir. Located to the left of the master cylinder/brake booster assy.

 

I guess you cannot see too well in the picture, but it's torn in more than one place.

I guess I will have to locate where this terrible oil leak is now.

I'm going to vote valve cover gasket for that leak


but hey you're in a better situation than I was in last week; there was transmission gear oil coming OUT OF that boot on my 91 PU, lmao... the input shaft seal on the trans let loose and caused a HORRIBLE leak inside that belhousing behind the boot

 

I'm going to say you got more than one leak going on. If its coming out the hole for the fork boot: if motor oil rear main; if gear oil front tranny seal. The oil on the top likely a valve cover gasket, but tranny could be over filled and pushing excess out the shifter base as it heats up, but if you hadn't messed with the tranny oil level. Which I'm guessing you haven't cause it has a perticular smell thats different from motor oil.

Most times you can tighten the valve covers up as the bolt vibrate loose and they aren't tightened very much. If its the rear main you will need to address it soon. As the name implies it is a main/important seal. If its the front tranny seal well its messy and will ruin your clutch but so will the motor oil. So you might as well replace rear main, clutch (pressure plate, pilot, and throwout bearing), and the front tranny seal.

 

SOMEHOW, when my trans input shaft seal broke loose, NO oil touched my clutch... THANK GOD, cause I would have been pissed off had my MC 1200lbs clutch with less than 5k on it was ruined, lol

 

Good luck indeed. That clutch was the reason all of us were waiting so long to hear that thing start running again!!
