I'm doing a full re-build on my 94 3VZ pick-up 4x4

I want to replace the injectors to make sure they are flowing proper for the new engine

Why do I see a set of 6 on Amazon for 69.00 rebuilt, or a set on LCE Performance for 299.00 rebuilt, or even 100.00 a piece at local auto parts store.

What is the difference? What is the best choice for quality and long term reliability?

Or should I have mine served for 25.00 each at a place like RCEngineering

Help me understand, thanks

 

I wouldn't trust any non OEM injector. Had my 4 rebuilt and one went bad after 100 miles. Bit the bullet and bought a new OEM one to replace it. I used this co, they said it was extremely rare that an OEM 22RE one went bad: https://witchhunter.com/

 

X2 on witchhunter, great turn around time been working like a charm, before and after flowtest charts when you get them back.

 

Do yourself a favor and send them to witchhunter. I even sent my cold start injector when I rebuilt my engine. before and after was like night and day. In total was about $130.00 as I recall for all 5 and that was with shipping, for you would be $44.00 more, but well worth it.

 

Besides the before & after printout, Witchhunter also sends you back all the parts they replaced which is nice for peace of mind.

Interesting, 1 of 4 of mine failed from witchhunter after 100 miles and I do have a slight stumble in my idle. Was wondering if another injector isn't working like it should. I might just buy 3 brand new OEM ones. With all the new parts in my truck, the idle should be perfect.

 

My experience: '89 22Re had one injector fail after about 180,000 miles. Mechanic said new or rebuilt? Asked about rebuilt experience, and he said have had good luck with them. $100 apiece if I remember correctly. 188,000 miles now and still runnin' primo.

 

$100 apiece for rebuilds is a bit much. find a shop that will do them for in the range of $20-$30 each.

 

Thanks for the info guys, what about the Bosch style 4 hole injectors? Seems logical a newer design injector could make it smoother with better atomizing.

I have a new set of Hyundai four hole injectors in my 22RE. Been doing good for two years now. They plugged right into the Denso connector. These injectors were used on Hyundai 2.4 engines. Seen a new Beck Arnley like mine for $35 at RockAuto.

Anyway, sure why not try some Bosch four hole. I would just be careful where I bought them from. Lots of fakes with the right numbers on the injectors, but the logo is wrong. I guess that's how they keep out of trouble.

 

If this were my truck, I would just have my injectors rebuilt as long as they are still good electrically.

There wasn't anything wrong with the OEM injectors when new, and have proven to last a long time.

 

most of the yota experts (including 22reperformance and LCE) will beg you to stay away from the "better" 4 hole injectors. wondering what the difference is between a 69 and a 300 dollar set is? quality, QA, and warrantied work with the name to back it.

 

Well, maybe a mistake, but I bought the Bosh 4 hole ones from Flamethrower. When I was inspecting my old injectors the previous mechanic had already replaced 3 of them with some no name ones, so I did not want to send out mismatched ones. I figured for 100 bucks I would give em a try, I can do the work myself so...

Hopefully they work, bought some years ago and it was so rich it burned my eyes out and was nowhere near going to pass emissions. Gave them away on here for shipping and got mine rebuilt with a lot of time wasted.......

 

Were they the flamethowers injectors that didn't pass emissions?

 

I've been running the ones from Flamethrower like I mentioned in the past. Been on the truck well over 1 year now. It passes California emissions with no problem. I was getting some pinging at full throttle under load and hooked up a AFR sensor. (BTW I have a rebuilt mass airflow thing) The truck was actually too lean under full load. I took 1 tooth out of the airflow sensor spring then opened up the bypass to lean it out at idle. Now its perfect 14.0 at idle and no more pinging. So a good experience but with a little extra effort. The truck runs better than new with this and the headers
