What about this guy?
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...3rd-gen-74326/
Unfortunately the pics no longer work.
He was running 35x10.50 with 0 lift, and there's a guy over on UY, I believe, that is running 35x12.50 with very little lift but a lot of fender trimming and firewall clearancing.
The problem you're going to run into is that you can't trim a whole lot out of the rear on 2nd gen 4Runners because of the rear door. And steering components are going to bend or break. The suspension is up to the task but the steering may not be.
Needing a SFA for 35's is bs.

well i havnt seen those pics but im sure it looks a bit funny, what im saying is all you would be able to do is drive around the street, try flexing out and see what happens. also the large tires will mess up the stock ifs.

When my 35's get here we'll see.
I have:
-4Crawler BJ spacers (1.5")
-T-bar crank (don't remember stock height, just cranked)
-2 inch BL
-2 inch blocks
-3 inch Downey lift springs/u-bolt flip kit
My front fenders are sitting at 41.5" in the front and 42.875" in the rear.

those are the same tires that i have on my truck but in a 35, they're called Super Sport Radials H/T and they are a cheapo walmart brand ripoff of BFGs old mud terrains. They are decent and I only got them for 40$ each at walmart. Unfortunetly they are now discontinued.

If he does wheel it and breaks , so what? That's part of the sport. An extra drag link, a spare cv, and maybe an idler arm and he would be good.
Don't get me wrong I like SAS'ed rigs and would like to swap mine but not until I wheel the piss out of the IFS. I just get tired of the "You gotta do this before you can do that" bull.
And, actually I think it looks pretty good.
