What the heck is this hose and where the heck does it go?

I recently blew out a radiator hose trying to pull a Tahoe out of the mud (hehe). The hose was completely removed and I was left with the job of finding where it fits. I found one end but cannot for the life of me find where it connects to. I know there are many threads already discussing cooling and heating hoses but none of them yielded any help.

I attached two photos. One is of the engine compartment with the offending hose end and screw clamp barely visible. The second is a close up of the hose end and where it connects to the engine block. Any help on what this hose is and where it connects to would be greatly appreciated. Stealership had no idea...typical.

So it is disconnected now? It looks like one of the many coolant hoses under the intake. Those are a PITA to replace if leaking.

Tuscaloosa Toyota had no clue? Or you didn't want to leave it and pay to let them fix it?

Yes, it is disconnected now except for the one end I was able to find.

Tuscaloosa Toyota did not know the hose but in their (slight) defense I only had these pictures to show them. I did not want to leave it there for fear of the monetary repercussions. They did look up the cooling/heating schematics for me but couldn't place the hose.

Going to be hard to show you where that hose goes from those pictures as there are a lot of connections under the intake there. Been there, done that. It's a pain even when its in front of you.

Yea, very understandable. I was banking on finding someone who had recently changed it or something. It is the only hose with a simple clamp like that which connects straight to the passenger side of the engine block viewable from the top. I know that still leaves a lot of mess. Thanks for the help and for the manuals link!

I think that one goes under the intake and hooks onto the side of the "air valve" (idle air controller). See page FI-66 on the 1988 FSM.

'tis the lower hose for the IACV

it runs under the upper intake and connects to the bottom of the IACV (there's a nipple facing downwards off the IACV that the hose connects to)

there's another hose to complete the IACV circulation that comes up from the lower intake and runs to another nipple pointing towards the driver's side coming off the IACV

there's no way you can be driving it around with it simply disconnected it's part of the coolant system; it's pressurized along with the rest of the coolant system, and you'd be spraying antifreeze out of that hole all over the place, unless you looped it around and bypassed the IACV

As soon as I get this thing up and running again you can be sure I'll stop by. I have actually been on Yotatech for about a year and a half now and spoke to you a while ago about fabbing a backseat into my 88 Runner. Anyway, I've been out of the country on a business internship since last year so my profile ran into disuse and I decided to renew it. Thanks for all the help, then and now. I have a few ideas for some mods that I would love to discuss with you.

So I checked the bottom of the throttle body including the IAC valve and found all the hoses in their respective places. So I do not believe this particular hose connects there. Here are two clearer photos with an obstructing hose removed.
