Unless it comes straight out of the muffler, bends up to go over the axle, then bends back straight and it ends right there above the axle.

Versus bending to go back down the other side of the axle.

Did that make any sense?

yeah, makes sense.
I've was an electrician in a past 1/2 decade.

 

mine has 1 small bend before the muffler, and 1 small bend after... get a muffler with an offset input/output... so the output is higher than the input... then it just has to bend up slightly up to the input, and out to exit between the leaf and frame.
i use a flowmaster 40 with 2.5" pipe and no cat.. sounds great... especially with headers.
..the larger the pipe, the deeper the sound will be.. i wouldnt use anything larger than 2.5" tho.

 

Well, mine comes straight off the cat, one bend up at about 45 degrees, muffler in place there, then one more bend 45 degrees to be come flat, it then passes over the axle and straight out under the bumper. I can do that since I have a body lift

 

that's cheating.

Did you get yours done at Carline?

 

I got mine done at Budget in maple ridge. I took my sisters chevy to carline and they ripped her off. I always thought they were one of the best shops around, they will never get a penny from me again....

 

I've had Carline recommended to me by quite a few people for any exhaust work but haven't been myself. Maybe I'll reconsider. Did Budget do mandrel beding?

 

I too heard good things about Carline, by a few people, including a mechanic. Never again! Guys were total jerks to boot!

Budget didnt do mandrel bends. Since I only have two bends on the entire system it doesnt really effect anything

 

Go down exhaust system's in waipahu and tell them what you want, he'll give you different options depending on what you want.

I'm running 40 series flowmaster with 2 1/4 pipe's.

I have a Flowmaster on my 1989 3.slow for about 2 months now. My opinion, not that it is worth much, is the way it sounds sucks green slimy swamp water! I would rather have the factory muffler back on it and will be changing it to something else soon.
