What does this go to?

I found a wire/conector laying in the engine bay next to where the oil filter goes in to the block on my 1990 3.0

i could not find where it goes to, wondering if anyone here knows.

looks like it might be the wire that goes to either the oil press. sending unit or it might also be the connector for the voltmeter on the back of the alt. which is just above there.

Kinda hard to tell from the small pic but it looks like the same one I have under my intake manifold too that isn't hooked to anything. The connector on mine is the same as the ones that's on the fuel injectors, but there is just one extra that is a different color, like the one in your hand.

Probably for some CA emissions crap that we don't have...

Try a free service like Photobucket.com, upload your pictures and than use the [img] code. that way you don't end up with those little tiny pictures...

Do you have automatic hubs? Can't tell for certain from your photo, but it could be the ADD sensor wire. Look for its mate coming out of the front differential.

That's the ADD 4wd light. Should be a pigtail extension between the engine harness and the front diff.
Vacuum pulls on the mechanism and when it engages a switch is closed and the 4WD dash light comes on.

Thanks guys for all the input!
I do have a photobucket acct, but they block the site at work. and for some odd reason the other one i am using as u could see wont let be do the large size ones, I was surprized that the small ones came out at all.
I have just right clicked on them an saved them as a picture to my computer and blown them up to see them, then erase them, but that is a pain.

I know that it is not for the alt, I just replaced that and all the wires are there, The volt meter works fine in the cab.
The oil sending unit which I believe is in that pic to, next to the oil filter has a conector on it already, the meter in the cab works fine.
and I do not have auto hubs, just manual, the 4x4 light works great

so i am un sure, maybe someone can shoot a pic of the oil sender unit/plug.
or someone look on there 3.0 to see if they have an extra wire too?
that wire was attached/looped in with the oil sending plug wire.

Thanks!!!

Yes, i did have that wire, it went to the A.d.d system on mine. Maybe its just universal and came on the trucks/4runners with add or not. Maybe the PO swapped from ADD to Manual hubs?
