Take care of any routine maintenance first. Flush the fluids, change all the oils.
Do a brake job, front axle seals etc...

I have been going through the Rubicon with stock shocks, on and off for 20 years. A 47 willys, 86 toy sr5 truck, and now the 91 runner. Never had more than stock shocks. I put some washers in when I did the bj spacer. So, what are you going to do with the truck? The only reason I mention the Rubicon is that we know it and what it takes to go through it. Anyway, don't get sucked into the shock hype. You are going to be limited with bump stops and sway bars anyway. Spend it on important stuff like sliders, lockers, tires. And don't buy into the hype about tires either. Any 33's will work off road(unless your mudding). Again, I have been through the Rubicon on 31 michelle, LT highway tires (no problem with traction). 33 made it alot easier. Also a Bud Built crossmember will gibe you about 2 additional inches of clearance at the transfer-case, and that is huge!

Just my 2cts.

Mike

well I spent around 200$

Found and insanely sweeeet deal on shocks!!!!!!!!!!!

10.50$ a peice, edlebrock IAS. Already recieved them in the mail. just put rears on for now.

BJ spacers should be here by friday. Then I'll get some new pics.
Put a jack on the front end and raised it 1.5". It will be perfect. Currently sits rear high bad. Thought bout jsut removing shackles but then I just paid for the spacers.

I was so excited about getting the shocks. They look SWEET!!!
Not the performers but still 200$ worth of shock for 50$. You just can't pass that up. With just the rear on it handles a lot better. Hugs the turns. haha.
It handles a lot better. Didn't think it would make much deal. It didn't really help with potholes or stuff like that, just feels stiffer. flexs better now that the shocks arn't limiting it. My dad said shocks would be a waste of money but I'm glad I got them. Needed the longer ones anyways.
can't wait till the bj spacer and to get the front on there.

Then I start looking for some old mazda trucks for the rear springs, cheaper than the chevies.
It's just a DD so starting slow. Then I need to find a J O B. Then the real modding begins, not really ,then save for gears maybe or header. It's FREAKING so hard to decide.

Tested out the new procomp mudders to day on dry dirt, hook up excellent. Clowled up hills i didn't think were possible, but no pics so, maybe in a few days I head back out. With camera and someone else with me.

sounds very nice. ive thoguht about new shocks, but i want to get the lift all taken care of first. i know what i want to do with the front, longer control arms and new torsion bars, but im not completely sure about the back. i was thinking new shackles, but im only gonna get about an inch out of the downey shackles, and i cant seem to find any others that work for my truck.

are the shocks really worth making everything else wait?

1. Take money out of wallet
2. Drive to local bank and deposit it in savings account
3. Add 20 bucks or so a month for a year
4. After a year take it out and see how its grown ORR just leave it and keep saving.

Personally i wish i could do this but i also have the problem of $ burning a hole in my pocket...so i guess you could call me a hypocrite
