Does anyone know what size bolt goes here behind the PS pulley? Also with this bolt being gone, does it limit the amount of tightening i can do on that belt? its loose and as tight as i can get it (without that bolt). Should i get a new belt as well? Any help is appreciated.
89 3vze 5 speed 2wd.
Yes, you need that bolt to tighten the pump (the retaining arc is just flopping around). I don't know the size of that bolt, but you only have so many choices. I'm going to guess it's an M10-1.25 x 20mm, but the way to tell is to remove another bolt that "looks" about the right size and gently try it. Don't worry that you'll have a "close but no cigar" situation. Then take the bolt to any good hardware store; since you know it's metric it won't be hard to match.
My local Ace-Hardware has a small selection of Metric hardware. If you can, you want to get a JIS Flange bolt. For an M10, that has a 14mm head, which matches the rest on your truck. If you get a "plain" Metric bolt it will have a 16mm (ANSI-ISO) or 17mm (DIN) head.
I actually have one laying around, bought one too many.
so it’s a 10mm bolt (the head is 14mm). 1.25mm thread
the threaded part is 22mm long, the overall length with head is 30mm
its a fairly hard bolt, grade 8. It also has a lock washer combined with a larger flat washer. As I remember it was fairly inexpensive from the online toyota dealer I order from
... the threaded part is 22mm long, the overall length with head is 30mm ...
Bolt length is measured from the bottom of the head (toward the threaded part) (unless it's a flat head bolt with a tapered bottom to fit into a countersink). So it sounds like you have a JIS M10-1.25 x 22.
