What backspacing?

I can get a good deal on some black American Racing rims on craigslist, but I'm not sure of the backspacing. What would be good on a stock 1st gen? I would like the wheels to stick out more than the stockers, but not to the point of being ridiculous. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks. I found some beat old white American Racing steelies on Craigslist, exactly like the ones that getitdone painted black, and the guy says they're 3.75" BS. My buddy owns a powdercoating shop and he said that if I do the blasting, he'll coat 'em for cheap, so I'll probably go that route if they're not curbed to hell.

Stock b/s on the IFS trucks is closer to 4.75"

Anything equal to that or smaller will work, less backspace = wider tire sticking outside the wheel wells:

Many thanks! I thought I had the concept of backspacing down, but it's a lot easier to visualize with a picture.
