i just changed all my belts on my 93 runner, and it squeals at startup. I wasnt sure if one was to tight or to loose........everyone on here keeps saying to loose, so i'll just tighten up the loosest belt and see what happens???

ah i realized why i gave uplast time when i was putting everything back on, i found a much easier way.. Use the other side of a open ended wrench and get a ratched, pull with the wrench and tighten at the same time. very easy lol.

The WD40 trick isn't to stop the squeal forever, it is to let you know which belt needs tightened.

yaya..
gave my ubolts for the rear leafs and everything else a good shot of pb buster to.
I had the exact same problem on my 89 Pickup. There would only be a squeal when the car started in the morning, or if it had not been run. It turns out it was loose drive belt, like you mentioned. I used a ratchet to loosen the pivot bolt on the underside of the alternator. Loosened it just barely so it could wiggle, then used a piece of wood and hammer to nudge the alternator and create tension. After acouple of tries it ended up working perfectly.

No more weird embarrassing looks!
