Weird squeal at startup..
Well, its starting to bother me now.. heres the run down
Nothing made noise besides my power steering when it was cold before i did my timing chain.
*after* i did my timing chain, i put a new alternator v belt in that i had..
now, at startup for the last couple months ive been getting this weird squeal..
sounds like a belt, but.. how can i test/verify that the belt is no good?
Could it be a alternator bearing? some type of bearing?
its just kinda embarrassing this squeal sound at startup and everyone looks at me...
anyone point me into some type of direction would be awesome..

Probably your belt since you changed it. But do this just for fun. Next time you start the truck, push the clutch. If the sound changes or goes away.. Well you now know where it is around.
But most likly your belt

Check your water pump for leaks. I have the same squeal and i couldnt figure out what was making it. I was doing the alternator and noticed my pump weeping right on the crank pully. So at startup it would squeal for a second. Pisser is the water pump is brand new

hey cyberman, ive herd this trick before, how do i do so? Just spray each belt at the same time? or at different times? on the crank pulleys right?
danstew, i havent seen anything leaking from the wp area

If you want to figure out which one it is, I'd suggest not spraying the crank pulley.
PS: spray the pulley at the powersteering pump...
alternator: spray the alternator pulley
A/C: spray the A/C pulley

to be honest, i remember rushing the alternator belt crap because it was like 1am..
it was hard to get tension on it,hold the bolt on one side with a wrench and use a ratchet to tighten the bolt
