weird 3VZE coolant leak
i have a friend with a 94' ext cab sr5 witha 3VZE. it recently developed a coolant leak in a very odd spot. i haven't gotten a good look at it yet, just in the dark with a flash light for a minute. it sometimes slowing leaks out on the front bottom right on the engine. right near the thermostat housing. that was my first guess. but he took it off and re sealed it and is positive it ain't coming from there.
last night when looked at it really quick with a flash light while it was running in a parking lot it almost looked like it was leaking out the oil pan gasket, but the oil definitely has no coolant in it and its clean.
i did some searching and couldn't find anything similar? anyone have any ideas? i told him i would take a better look at it today in the daylight.
its weird looking at the 3vze, i haven't had one in so long! everythings so packed in there.

I just fixed my coolant leak. It was the water neck/ idler #2. Coolant would go all along the top of the lower plenum then drip either off the front of the motor or on the back and cause a smoke out.
Get a real nice and bright light and get lookin. Check all the hoses before you think you need to pull the intake mani. Its really not that hard.
Good luck.

Any updates to the original post? I just noticed the same problem on my 88 4runner. All hoses look good but its dripping very slightly after driving for 20 minutes or so. Seems to drip down the left side for me ( if you are facing the truck ) right on to the steering stabilizer. Havent taken the plastic cover off yet but I was wondering if it was my water pump. Did the squeeze test to the top rad hose and it has pressure surge, which makes me this its not the pump. Please post what you discover, thanks!
