what truck? you posted in the 84-85 section but your signature lists a 87?
I would go with a 32/36 DGEV

Depends on what else has been done or you plan to do to your truck. If it's bone stock to somewhat modified(header, mild cam, slkightly larger exhaust, etc) then the 32/36 is the way to go. If you have or are planning to modify it more heavily, then go for the Weber 38. It's a synchronous carb(both barrels open when you hi the gas) so it'll be more suited to getting max power out of an R motor. The 32/36 is not synchronous, and should get you better fuel economy. Tuning and setup is really pretty easy with the directions provided, given that you don't have any intake leaks. Even 1 little one will ruin your day otherwise.

Hey woody, I have an 85 22r that im looking to put a weber carb on. I think by looking at your pics that you went with a eletric choke, is that right? i was thinking about doing a manual choke one.. I was wandering how this thing was running for ya now? was the install pretty easy?

Thank you for the help.

Running pretty good, nothing like putting it to the floor and hearing the second barrel open. Only problem is once it warms up the idle kicks way up, if I lift the pedal with my foot, it goes down, trying to decide if I need to adjust idle or a new throttle cable, going to go put some WD-40 on the pedal and cable and see if it helps. otherwise will just order a new cable.

But as far as the carb goes, easy install, follow the directions and you will be fine, I'm not SUPER mechanically inclined but I got old one off and new one put on in 8 hours.

My .02

Thank you for the info, still trying to decide on wether or not to go manual or electric. I know that the electric you dont really have to worry about it but the manual wont let ya down.. hard decision haha

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, Its starting to get colder in the morning and its a little rough starting. I got to work at 430-500 am and its cold then. once it warms up it is fine. gonna have to dig out the instructions again and re adjust the carb. All in all though more power, better economy and a MUCH cleaner look. I highly recommend.

Put some heet or other fuel drier in with your fuel, the carb is likely icing up with the lack of a warm air intake like you have with the stock carb. I ran a weber on my 85 and it'd die at the first couple stops as soon as I pushed the clutch from the carb icing up. One of many reasons I chose to make my stock carb work correctly on my current truck.
