Weak window defroster

Hi guys, I joined this forum awhile back, but haven't been on much. We've had this '95 4runner with the 3.0 since '08 and the defroster for the front window leaves much to be desired. With Winter coming soon, I was wondering what I should check as this is my wife's vechicle. The blower and heater seems to work fine, but we have to keep wiping the windshield as we're driving during the cold/snowy season and it gets a little scary. Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance.

well for inside the vehicle if you turn on a/c it defrosts faster. Another thing do to is wake up earlier and let the car warm up before taking a drive.

The truck is plenty warmed up as the problems persists even as we've been driving for quite some time.

I know this sounds simple but....are you saying you have little air flow? or that it's blowing strong and hot and your still getting fog? It sounds like you have low pressure blowing out, in that case I would check the defrost vents from the blower up, I have and 83 which was driven very little before I bought it and started using it as my DD, I had a mouse nest right by the blower, after cleaning it out and about 10 pounds of chewed up nest and nuts, its blowing hot and clear.

Okay, thanks. I'll check for that. The air flow seems okay as it definitly warms up inside the truck, but the visibility on cold days has been mediocre at best. Probably the worst of any vehicle I've had which has perplexed me. I'll check the vents and report back if nothing changes. Thanks again.

Seems like ever year I have to open up the blower fan and remove some item that is "clicking" inside it, usually it's a leaf or something similar. Not sure how they get/got in.

I never thought of that before today so thank you for the insight. I'm a mechanical noob so this will at least give me an idea on where to get started.

my truck seems to be a "critter" magnet, from wasp nests to birds and such, and I drive it everyday.

Funny you should mention that, my wife and stepson found a bat on the front of the truck the other day. It died soon after...
