Warn Hubs $20!!

I went to my local junkyard after my buddy told me about a 4Runner they had. I checked it out and it ended up having no rims and tires on it, but a set of Warn Premium hubs on it. After un-bolting it I hassled they guy, told him it was missing an o-ring and 4-5 nuts and washers, which it was'nt, and offered $20(all I had) And he pondered then said alright. Cleaned 'em up and running 'em right now! Anybody else got a good deal like that. Post what deal you got!

Nice score! As for the mileage inquiry; I drove around all summer with my cv's removed. Surprisingly, I did not experience any MPG gain.

Was it Pick A Part in Chilliiwack? Pray tell.... I was there about a month ago and their prices seemed to be the lowest around for auto wreckers.

I also got a set of Aisin hubs for $300. They came with a running 86 4runner.

There is probably a junkyard guy telling someone over a beer, "This guy came in today and was excited to get these hubs off of an old wreck today. I have had that thing for three years and have already made ten times what I paid for it parting it out. I was going to give them to him for ten bucks but he tried to flim flam me so I charged him double, next rounds on him."

I have been told similar stories almost monthly from the junk yard guys around here for years. They usually let me get stuff for my own wrecks for half price.

Yeah, I know dude, They pay next to nothing for a wreck and make a ton off of anything they sell. There was a guy at a yard around here that wanted 350.00 for a bent hood.:pat:

You won't see any difference in milage at all.

Did Warn hubs a little while back and it made no difference in milage.
Turning the front axles all the time isn't any load on the engine at all.

I think its a myth, but honestly maybe a smaller engien with less power may benefit.

I do like the fact that it is less wear and tear though.

Got a complete front Trailmaster IFS 4" bracket lift including stabilizer and asins (minus shocks - they were shot) for $45.00 Has to pill it myself, but that's OK.. Now just a few more things and I'll be ready to install it....

We;ve never seen even a 4 banger experience an increase in fule milage by switching to manual hubs.
I come from a Jeep background and it's the same thing. Jeeps come with fixed hubs and that's one of the big myths there also, that switching to manual hubs will help gas milage.
Nope, won't happen even with the 2.5L 4 bangers.

Now, as you mentioned, they most certainly save wear and tear and they're other advantages to using manual hubs, but fuel savings is certainly not one of them.....

Bought a bucket of Aisin hub pieces for $25 and made 3 full hub sets out of it after lots of cleaning.

I am now quite proficient at taking those things apart and putting them back together.

Yeah, I think if I lied to a guy to get a better deal (even if I didn't actually get a better deal) I probably wouldn't tell people about it. Especially not on a board where people buy, sell, and trade with each other...
