what do i need to do a valve job?

well i dont need the experience my friends doing it for me...he has everything to do the valve job except the parts for my car so what do i need to get for car parts

ok, let me explain this to all of you. The guy who owned my 4runner(1991 6cyl 5 spd)messed up the cylinder valves and now i need them replaced so can i just buy a new cylinder head and get a valve job?

If he burnt a valve,then buy a valve,lap it in,and make sure the lash isn't too tight.A real valve job will cost you a $1000.$300 for new valves,$60 for the seals,$220 for all the gaskets,$5-10 each for shims asuming your valve grinder man can get the valve length pretty close.If he misses the length by far It'll cost you another valve.The shims only cover a small range.Anyway thats if you pull the heads yourself.The rest will be valvegrinder labor.A burnt valve shouldn't cost you a head though.

it may not be a burnt valve;it makes a clicking sound even when idling and the clicking gets louder when i get into higher RPMs,this makes the check engine light always be on and they said this was from the valves,so what does it sound like to you?
