Vacuum line - where does it go?

I am trying to resolve a pulsing idle problem in my son's 91 4-Runner 3VZE, which seems to be due to an air leak.
I've found a vacuum hose which is disconnected (plastic ferrule on end has broken off) but I can't see where it came from, as it seems to be somewhere at the rear of the engine and my workshop manual is worse than useless.
Hopefully one of you gentlemen will be able to help!

It is the line from the Purge outlet on the fuel canister, as shown in the pic.

Check under the upper plenum for maybe any vacum ports open. Hard to see but they're there. It also might attach to the water bypass thats bolted onto the lower intake.

Thats a charcoal canister though? My charcoal canister is on the passenger side. Or does that have something to do with the cruise control?

Your picture shows components that are on the oppisite side of mine.

I dunno maybe someone else can chime in here!

His steering wheel is on the wrong side (mentioning that would have been helpful). The hose from the canister plugs into a port on the coolant bypass outlet. It plugs into the top of the blue fitting (TVV).

Sorry fellas, I neglected to say that we're in Oz and drive on the proper side of the road! I meant to put that in the original post as the photo could be confusing otherwise. (I'd better get my location details entered.)
The photo will be a help - thanks.
