What could possibly be better about pushrod compared against SOHC. Just because GM made a powerful motor doesn't mean its valvetrain doesn't belong on lawnmowers.

One could argue pushrod tech works sufficiently well on lower-rpm / torque heavy engines to not need the added complexity of an OHC design.
Not to mention, pushrod tech can be incorporated without adding to the engine block space requirement.

I've heard that a well built 4cyl will outperform a stock V6. I have the 3.0L and its done fine. I haven't really had any engine issues. Its slow but still fun to drive. Gas mileage sucks though

Swap a 5vz into a rig of your choice, it kills both the 22r and the 3vz combined.

But the 5vz is easier to swap into a 3.0 chassis than a 22re chassis...just a thought

The 22re is easy to work on, will run for a long time and gets pretty damn good mileage while its at it. But don't expect to go anywhere fast, it ticks like a tracket and like mentioned, it has its share of hg problems. But a hg job on a 22re only takes a day or two.

the 3vze is nice. It has a considerable power/tourque gain over the 22re, its smooth, timing belt so she loves to rev. I take mine to 5,500 weekly. Has been to 6200 (rev limiter)... But it has headgasket problems, many argue because of poor exhaust manifold design, small exhaust valves or poor cooling... But, my truck has been in the family for almost 180,000km. It had its headgasket recall (like most other 3.0's) and it has been running great.
She is a very tight fit, so most engine jobs can get frustrating. And that cursed mess of vac lines is a real pissoff.

But I would put a 1uzfe over all of them

OK, well i the 3.0 v6 and i personally love it. Litlle sluggish, but i can outrun my friends s10 extreme.... stupid govenors, eh >

I like the extra horses, but the gas is killing me tho. I'm thinking about gettin an 97 or up 1uzfe to swap in after i get my first enlistment bonus. Then i will have a Yota on steroids!

I've got a 22RE that I built (see sig), I've never dynod it but I've raced a few of my friends 3.0s and won.
22RE is more reliable, WAY easier to work on.
I recently did a head gasket job on a friends 4Runner with the 3.0. Reminded me why I like the 4banger so much, its so simple!
