V6 Rough Idle
I've recently purchased a 1990 pickup with a V6; it was running kind of rough, and couldn't get the timming adjusted properly. Hence, I adjusted the TPS as per 4Crawler's site... My question is this:
What was your VTA - E2 setting?
My idle appears to be a lot better, but there's still a miss.
I've cleaned the throttle body
Adjusted the TPS
Changed the Plugs
Changed the wires
Changed the Dist Cap
Changed the rotor
Set the base timing to 10
Changed the air filter
Changed the PCV
But it still idles a little rough.
Additionally, when I start it up and it's cold, there's hesitation...

LOOKS LIKE TIME TO TO A COMPRESSION TEST AND LEAK DOWN BUT....
BEFORE GOING INTO THAT MAKE SURE NONE OF THOSE FANCY NEW WIRES ARE SHORTING ANY WHERE (LIKE THE EGR, I DID THAT ) ALSO RECHECK EVERTHING YOU DID ALREADY, WOULDNT YOU BE IF YOU FOUND OUT YOU MISSED SOMTHING SIMPLE

have you checked the injector seals? One of my 22re's started missing the other day and found one spark plug tip came loose where it is threaded on that the plug wire snaps onto.

Nope... I didn't clean that. just unscrew the plate and spray some TB cleaner in there? Anything delicate in there that I should be aware of?

Hey, that seemed to help a lot! I'll take it for a nice long drive later today and see what she does. Yeah, I'm 10 minutes away from Ottawa, small world... I'd love to see the western provinces.
Thanks again for the help.
