Just bought a 1994 T100 auto 4x4 w/167k v6, when I accelerate or let off gas sounds like a ball ping hammer hitting sheet metal, checked heat shields seems like its right under the intake manifold? comes in around 2500rpm and usually fades awy beyond that, but have heard it ib higher revs? any ideas?

Is the motor the 3vze? Sorry, not too familiar with T100's per se. But, I am with 3vze's, if that's what you have.

Regardless, as Abe's post implies, check the timing.
