V6 4x4 manual shifting problem

I recently replaced my clutch and have the following problem. After driving around for a little while I have problems shifting vehicle in gear after making a stop. It completely refuse to go in gear. When I switch off vehicle, it slide right into gear. Also, when shifter acts up, vehicle reacts like an automatic and I have to set on my brake with the clucth depress, otherwise vehicle will move forward. When this happens, it is also difficult to gear in neutral. I have replaced shift lever seat without any success.

sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengageing. Take it bake to who did the clutch & tell them to look at it since it isn't releasing.

have you checked your fluid level or bled the system sence you did your clutch work?

also did you reset the clutch peddal height? there is a procedure for it i think.

sounds like your hydraulics are not working correctly for your clutch. Check your slave cylinder and master cylinder for proper operation.

Did you pay to have it done somewhere? They have to guarantee their work. Bring it back.
If not: when you can get it into gear, does it release really close to the floor?

mine had similar problems, the pressure plate was not fully torqued down flat on the flywheel. It had reached the correct torque but there was so much tension on the pressure plate it was not flush against the flywheel..

I was thinking of changing the transmission fluid with synthetic oil GL-5 and see how it works. Shiftless, what did you do to solve your problem?

I'm having the same problem. I had my clutch replaced back in November and ever since it has shifted poorly. It's hard to get it into gear; if I"m slowing down and go from 3rd to 2nd I have to almost double clutch. (or pump the clutch a few times)

Now I had a Non-Toyota Mechanic replace it and I think that might have been my problem. Since then it has been to toyota for more bleeding, which has improved the shifting.

When I was at the toyota dealership, they asked if my mechanic used Toyota Geniune parts. (he didn't) They told me they have seen this before when Toyota parts are not used. (Of course I didn't believe them, but I did some research on this site and others and I read where a few others had the same problem with after market parts. When they replaced the after Market with Toyota Genuine Parts... Problem was fixed.)

(As a note; The problems others were having was with the after market Clutch MC and Slave Cynlinder)

The dealership also told me bleeding that system is a pain. So maybe you need to bleed it more.

For me, I'm debating sending it to the dealership for them to look at it. I'll keep you posted
