Upper rad hose connection

I have the 1994 3vze. AT the end of the upper radiator hose there is a metal connection to the idler pulley. It is held by two screws with a gasket. The gasket is leaking some coolant.

Is there a gasket that I can purchase for this connection or should I just use RTV?

Thanks for any assistance ...

I had this leak on mine a year or so ago. I went to carquest/napa/etc and they said they did not have access to the gasket. After some research I found it was silicone from the factory. Just take the 2 nuts off the studs, separate, clean, silicone, reassemble, drink some beer.

Yep. It's FIPG. My favorite kind is called "the right stuff" by permatex. It is awesome. I've never had any leaks using that stuff, and you can use it on systems for any fluid on your vehicle.

I will see if I can find "The Right Stuff" if not, I will use Permatex Water pump and thermostat silicone.

Thanks ...

And don't overtighten the nuts, otherwise you'll squash out the rtv. The torque spec is 11 ft lb.

Toy uses a black RTV. Any will do, I use O-2 sensor safe stuff and did that on my 89 3vze a while ago.

I used the Permatex water pump & thermostat housing RTV silicone (grey). The silicone has not harden. The black silicone that I took off was rubbery.

Should it be used as is, a soft silicone? The instructions say it will cure in 24 hours.

I could not find the right stuff in a small tube. Only in a large can. Should I redo?

Thanks for any assistance ...

If it leaks, redo it.

No leaks. The silicone rubberized during the 24 hours.
