update on 86 rebuild.

ok yota techers i need some help. i just pulled the oil pan off the motor and found some plastic shards and a piece of metal. so i think the piece of metal is part of the timing chain cover, and the plastic was the chain guides. i have a picture of where the piece of metal goes so you can see its the first pic.

i also have another question there is this part that bolted to the side of the head and it went to the intake and had some hoses coming from it. well after taking it apart it looks like its plugged, what is this part and what does it do. i also have some pics of it they are the last three pics.

I would replace that EGR, pricey, but the computer uses the EGR system to regulate RPM, fuel volume, and auto tranny shifting, maybe more. (mainly emissions, and if you can think at all, that is the most valuable) The whole EGR system on mine was a little messed up here and there, but eventually, I got it running well. Replacing my EGR valve and fixing teh EGR system made my truck run a lot smoother, and fuel efficiency went up from 14 mpg to 18. It is up to 20+ now, but after other attention.

Running without a cat will cut your gas mileage to pieces. I'd replace the egr system, budget permitting. Tim
