undercarriage rust

I apologize if there is already a thread relating to this but if so I wasn't looking in the right place. I'm a new Toyota owner, bought a 94 extended cab 3.0 4x4. I plan on eventually making it trail ready but first want to take care of the rust underneath. I live in Kansas and realize what I consider to be a lot of rust may not but also want this truck to last.

The whole undercarriage is coated in rust. I had to replace the shocks right away, completely blown out, and even those came off hard. Everything from the control arms to even wheels studs are toast. The rear drums look like one solid rust plate. Frame and bed on the bottom also have a thick coat. No holes rusted through yet though.

My question is I know the suspension parts will get replaced but what process would u suggest I do to prevent more rust from forming? Thinking of taking bed off so I can access the frame easier. What products would u suggest.

Appreciate any advice and your time.

I would knock down the rust you don't have to take it down to bare metal just go over it with a wire brush and then use a product like POR15, Silver Bullet, or Eastwood rust encapsulator. I have used Eastwood rust encapsulator it works very well.

Jakes40 thanks for the tips. I will look into the Eastwood product.
