Ugh. Water in my amsoil...

I went to hungry valley today and was hitting some puddles pretty fast.

My dip stick some how works its way out of the tube.

Anyways, I looked at my oil before i left... and it looked kinda chocolate shake-ish, but when i drove back to bako and checked it, it didn't look as bad as it did.

dunno if i should get rid of $90 worth of oil over it.

It could've been some condensation that after driving, evaporated....
But seeing discoloration in the oil is something I'd be taking seriously.

you'd be better off playing it safe rather than rebuilding the bottom end that much sooner

well... the good thing is that you work at a lube shop... so you could just do it on one of your breaks... i hear KY works great for lubricating things...

thats an expensive milk shake.

ok first thing first.

Stop drivig it till you know weather or not their's water in your oil.

so yes drain it all out into a clean pan and look at it. if there's water you can try to let it sit and seperate.. not reccomended but possible i guess..

also, i would do a block check. it's a chemical check for co2 in your coolent system. usualy if you get water into your oil, means you may have some compression leaking into your coolant system.

you can get block check at napa, or most parts stores, cost between 20-50 bucks.

i was told that amsoil looks funky brown after its run for a while.. If you're really concerned about water do this.
* Drain a little bit of oil into a small container.
* Take a pice of newspaper and tear into a strip.
*Dip the newspaper strip into the oil
* Take a lighter and light the oiled up newspaper.
* If you hear or see any sizzling you've got water.
*If it burns clean you're in luck
Hope this helps.. Its a lot cheaper then chemical test strips.
