Hey Buddy.

Hi Buddy. Welcome to yotatech, and congratulations on your choice of a Toyota.

We use punctuation, full sentences and are overly descriptive around here.

There is nothing a laymen can upgrade in the ECU. Perhaps you mean you want to swap/change to a stand alone tuneable aftermarket ECU? There are a few off the shelf options for this, they range from a build your own megasquirt based computer (@3-400$) all the way up to big names (Haltech, ect).

The general rule is to get whatever your dyno guy is familiar with. If you don't have a tuner yet, this is going to be the first/second step, you need to choose a dyno shop. You also need to be clear what your intentions are, as well your expectations.

Depending on your expectations, intended use, and budget.. You might be best served by just swapping the powerplant and drive train for something larger right from the start.

start with 22rte-trucks.com, good info there.
Also read Ron (ronmar) and Darin's (dginther) posts here. Darin's website is also good info and resources, used to be better but I think he got a DMCA notice.

Megasquirt.info <- homepage
Diymegasquirt.com <- supplier.

If your boost pressure is reaching the crankcase, I can think of a few things.

Wrong or cheap PCV valve, get one from the Toyota dealer not a trashy plastic one. They'll need the Vin code and build date.

PCV not plumbed correctly.

Excessive blow-by, due to rings or valve seals..

For the main crank seal, but you said you already fixed it "right" so I'm confused.. They tend to leak here because the rubber gasket has worn a groove into the crankshaft, the typical fixes are to sleeve the shaft or get the thinner seal so you can place it on a different section of the shaft.

Hey buddy welcome to yotatech and the 22rte games... Col94 is knowledgeable and very helpful!
i just recently lost my ole ct20 to the infamous cracked turbo housing... so i decided to upgrade...
my goals were dependable, safe, reasonable, inexpensive (not cheap) relisble, usable power,
So after tons of searching I decided on the CT26 TURBO, a 1982 Supra AFM, turbo header, 2 1/2" exhaust, and a small intercooler... the hardest part was finding the AFM! I'm running 10lbs boost and a couple of evenings ago drove the 90 miles against a 20/30 mph wind, up hills, a/c on, doing 70/80 mph and got 18 mpg!!! Stock ECU, stock injectors...
I'm a muscle car guy and not easily impressed... but holy cow this little beast is impressive!!! No it won't keep up with the c5 Corvette, or the Supercharged FJ Cruiser... but its more fun to drive than either of them because it's so unexpected from an 87 4runner...
have fun!
