Tuffy Series II Security Console 6.5" in a 1st gen?
I have seen installs with the Samurai tuffy that fit fine and heard tale of the Series II 6.5" fitting but have never actually seen one installed. Can anyone confirm this thing fits before I bite the bullet?

The only thing that concerns me is the 8" width of the cupholders
This is on a 87' Runner 5-speed w/ 4x4

tuffy box
I installed a tuffy series 2 box in my 88 runner. You have to make sure to get the 6 1/2" wide box and CANNOT get the one with a cd player holder bacuse it will be too long. It works well after you get used to the height of the box. One thing I like is that it has loops to put the seatbelts in so that when you roll the seat back it doesn;t get caught ... and of course I like the locking part.
found this post as well, looks like it should fit.
$235 for a center console is a bit ridiculous but my console is shot and cupholders+locking box is a nice upgrade

Hey defrag, how's the trip prep coming along?
I just spotted this thread while searching for ideas...I just scored a 10" tuffy console for $140 bucks. It was never even installed I know a 10" is way too big for a 1st gen, but I swapped in seats from a 300z and the custom seat brackets I fabbed gave me more room for the console.
I'm looking for ideas on what I should do with the dash space after I move the stereo into the console...
or should I keep the stereo in the dash and use the console's stereo spot to hold document copies for the trip? that'd be a very convenient spot when I get pulled over
