tube rear bumper
i just got rear ended and it pretty much killed my rear bumper. i'm wanting to put tubes on the rear but can't find them for a 94 4runner.
anyone know where i can look for reasonably priced tubes?
or do i have to contract out for it? ($$$)

i'm taking a welding class at a local college next term. hopefully i will be able to have a couple of 2" tubes bent at a local shop and weld them together. its better than paying $300 - $400 for a set of tubes. all pro looks ok and i'll probably copy one of their designs.
and, oh yea, jjrgr21, lets have a look see at what you've done. and any hints or tips you can offer will go a long way.

The hard/expensive part on tube bumpers isn't the welding, it's the bending. Unless you have access to a bender or want all straight tubes. Personally I like the All Pro rear bumper design for the Tacoma.

yes, i like these as well. but, if i take the tubes to a local exhaust shop they should be able to bend them. and then the welding is simple.
still waiting for pix from jjrgr21.

Yeah, the majority of the price for making your own bumper is having bends made on your tubing if you don't have access to a mandrel or something. You'll spend anywhere from $15-50 a bend depending on the place. Before my buddy got his mandrel, I spent $80 having 2 90* bends put into a piece of square tubing so I could use a jeep's softtop on my runner. It aint cheap. Best bet if you don't know anyone, is to go to a little muffler shop.

marc,
it looks like you took off the front lower bumper. was that intentional or was it torn off? it does look a bit more rugged like that. i'm considering doing the same thing.
after the insurance guy came and inspected the toyo last night i went ahead and ripped off the rear bumber and mud guards. i have to say, i don't dislike the way it looks just like this. i will still put on those tubes. but, its not bad...
whoah!!! after further lookage at your pix i'm so jealous of your sas! i wish i had the brass to attempt something like that. nice job.:
i also saw the stickers. are you a civilian contractor? the facial growth means not active or reserve... like me!
