Isn't it the resonator for the PAIR system?
(Don't have the v6 so not sure, but I remember it from some other thread.)

 

ya, im trying to find it aftermarket though. stealer wants like $140. i have it off right now, the mounts on mine became brittle and broke so i just got a 3" plastic tube to connect the hoses with. just worried about smog visual inspection.

 

Though the resonator is part of the PAIR system, not having it shouldn't be a problem for emissions as long as the PAIR reed valve is getting it's air from the air filter housing.
It's only there to cut down in noise in the intake- the growl you can get when the system operates.

 

oh. maybe i'll just make it prettier, then.
