Trying to comprehend IFS lift

Hi all,
I'm trying to wrap my head around how and IFS lift works. If I wanted to get a small lift on the IFS would I need to get different A-arms etc etc or can I still use all the stock stuff and have different shocks. I want to get a 2" (aprox.) lift and was just wondering what would be involved in achieving that.
Thanks

Do a search for ball joint spacers. You'll find everything you need to know. T-Bar crank too...
