It'll turn over, and it'll run real good when primed, but I cannot get it to run on its own.
I know check power to pump, what else? I though I read somewhere that you need to prime the pump sometimes?

I would drain the gas tank and put in a new fuel filter

 

Ug. I just put gas in it too.
Just a couple of gallons, but still.

 

Chances are the fuel in the lines is bad, as was the stuff in the bottom of that tank. Did you try starting it before you put the new gas in? I probably is just an matter of cranking it a while to and changing the fuel filter (passenger's side frame rail below the passenger's seat if I recall).

You might have a dried up O-ring somewhere downstream of the carb in the intake. I haven't taken apart a 22R.

 

It was pretty much on fumes when I parked it. There was a little bit of gas in it, but once I jacked it up it wouldnt start. I know I also need a new battery. I tryed to jump it for over a hour last night and it wouldnt hold a charge. Im sure that dosnt help.

Well, the fuel filter isnt under the seat. Is it possible that its in the fuel tank?
I can follow the lines into the engine compartment, they go into this cylinder on the front left side of the engine with 3 or 4 tubes coming out. Is that my filter?

 

the fuel filter is not in the cab. its under the cab about as far back as the seat.

I didnt mean under the seat in the cab, I meant under the seat under the cab.
Ill look again. I can trace the lines from the tank all the way into the engine compartment, but I cant find a filter...
Ill take pictures if I need to.

 

also, if the pump is "in-tank" i know they are unhappy when dry.

the pump may be frozen. its always beter to leave it submerged. however, if its an out of tank pump, or pump on the engine (like my 86 22r) than disregard this chime.

 

can you hear the fuel pump come on for a second when you turn the key on, if not try wraping on the tank a few times with a hammer while someone cranks it. also somtimes when a tank is run dry you can have to add as much as 5 gallons to get it to start again, any remaining fuel in the tank probably evaporated over the time it sat, 1 year old fuel should run just fine. maby run a little rough but should still run.

 

Yea I put about 2 gallons in, Ill add some more.
Any ideas as to what that thing the fuel lines are going into is?

I removed the line before that thing, and no fuel came out when cranked so the problem is before that.

Turned out that it was the fuel pump on the engine.
Sat dry for so long and was so old the diaphragm cracked. I actually dont have a fuel filter either... Need to fix that.
