Truck not going out of gear?

i've got an 89 pick up... its got the 22-R motor in it... and i havn't driven it in a while as i'm driving my honda for the summer... and i was taking it to the dealer today to get a recall on it fixed... and it wouldn't come out of gera (its a standard) even with my foot on the brake and clutch, it still was moving in first gear...

i havn't checked anything out yet i'm thinking about checking/replacing the slave cylinder.. (clutch fluid levels fine i checked that) anything else you guys can reccomend?

It should come out of gear without the clutch. Try rocking the truck a bit and see if it comes out. If not then your tranny has a problem.

I am by no means and expert.......and dont want to spread misinformation.....
I read a thread here in the last week about someone who replaced the clutch and the could not get it into gear without grinding or if they started the truck while in gear it would start to move and the general diagnosis was the bracket holding the clutch pedal to the fire wall was cracked...I would think you should be able to get it in and out of gear though...may be worth looking at it.....

oh this is when it was driving...

sorry i don't have all the details... my dad was driving it cause it has no insurance but hes covered if he drives it, but i guess he was driving it, rolling slowly at a stoplight... puts it in first...

foot on clutch and brake, and the truck didn't want to stop... i'm going to check all the obvious things first, but just want to know to look for anything special, or if anyone else had similar problems...

might try bleeding it. if theres air trapped in the line it could be not properly engaging and disengaging

pump the clutch get some pressure in there if it has been sitting awile u may need to do this, so before you go and try to replace things just try pumping the pedal about 50 times, dont sit there and 1-2-3-4-5-6-7.....jsut do it a bunch o times.

yes, pumping the clutch should work temporarily if there is air in the line. If pumping the clutch helps then its a good indication that it needs to be bled
