I know we are all Toyota Enthusiasts on here, but I just wanted to say that I love my 4Runner. I live in a very remote Northern Town North of the 60'th Parallel in Canada. As such building supplies are very expensive here as we are at the end of the highway. Anyway, I had purchased about 1500kg's of building supplies in a town approx 300kms away from my town. There was going to be a steep cost for shipping these items to my location; so instead of eating the cost, I decided to gear up the runner. Granted, I never should've tried, but I thought the old beast would be able to do it...

I'm almost positive any other brand of SUV with 300,000 kilometers on the odometer (with original engine) would not have completed the journey. Total load was over 4000lbs.

Below is a picture of the load, and me putting stop leak in the Rad to patch a small pin hole in the top of the tank (damn).

I could believe it, I have towed a 99 dodge heavy duty on a 2200 lb uhaul trailer 50 miles, 30 of it in city without a problem on my 01 tacoma 4cylinder standard cab. brakes were changed after but still did it without a problem.

But don't bring that down to the US... your safety chains are hangin too low, you have too much tongue weight (I'm guessing about 700 lbs, mostly because they loaded the trailer the way u-haul says "2/3 of the weight up front" but the trailer has the axles moved towards the rear to allow even weight distribution) and no break-away safety (which makes me think no brakes on the trailer).

 

On extreme 4x4 today they had a thing on towing/trailers..

 

fat lotta good that does now... it's too late he already made it home... they shoulda had it on two weeks ago, then it mighta done some good...

 

holy cheese and crackers........at least he has a tow package (that is probably not rated for that kinda load)..the chains are too low because of how much the runner is saggin..lol..best way to fix that problem...biggg truck.lol..3/4 ton dodge diesel..there ya go..pull 5x's that much without even stoppin to think about it..lol

when we had our 2002 dodge diesel 4x4 6spd i ONCE pulled a CAT D6N (around 37,000lbs) without even thinkin about it..(gooseneck..BIG trailer..with trailer brakes)...truck DID NOT EVEN FLINCH..took it..and towed it at 65mph up and down hills on country roads..and you know how much of a grade those can have on em..and yes...there was lots-o-black smoke

 

wow thats alot weight for the 3.0. I don;t doubt it though toyotas can haul pull and 4wheel better than most so yea. just don't do that on a daily basis.
