An update to my situation, i drianed my transmission fluid and it came out brownish black, looked the color of oil. I replaced it with 5qt of Dexron-III and 1qt of Trans-X anti-slip fulid. Havent had any prolonged drives yet to really test it but has been shifting fine so far. Was considering changing the filter but decided not too once I saw all the bolts and my front drive shaft in the way.

Thanks.

Since your oil was burned I would make plans on getting another trans. Your clutches are going out of it. Depending where you are they can be had cheap (3slows get junked all the time with good trans).

Yeah, "brownish black" ATF is not a good sign. Don't stray too far from home with that tranny.

So another update it slipped on me multiple times today. When driving it cold it does fine, after 45 mins of runtime it starts slipping 2nd to 3rd..

I have a tranny lined up, $200 if i remove it from thier 4Runner myself.
Does that price sound fair? I asked how many miles and he said he didn't know.

And what should I pay for a backyard mechanic to rip the tranny out of one truck, then rip out mine, then insert the other tranny into mine. I know it'll take a lot of time. Thanks!

And one more note, my A.T. Oil Temp Light DOES work when i have the key in however it has yet to illuminate while driving, doesn't mean the sensors working right but I don't think the ATF fluid is over temp...
