Transmission stuck in or out of gear
Hi
I have a 1991 5-speed transmission that I was going to put into a truck that is getting a rebuilt 3.0 3vze. The transmission is out of the vehicle and is on a table. It will not move forward or back. It will move side to side. I will be using my FSM today to start carefully taking it apart, but I was wondering if anybody has experienced this before and could tell me what I might be in for.
Thanks in advance

If the transmissions are dropped on their tailshaft, they can slide into reverse without engaging the shift fork. What you have to do, is remove the reverse sensor and use a screw driver to pop the gear fork back into neutral. Try that before you take the whole thing apart.
